Well, as spring break draws near I’m reminded that this year, spring break is just another week for me. Since I’m not in school this semester there really is no spring break for me! Every day is like spring break pretty much. As much as I like not having to worry about tests, homework, projects, or writing papers…believe it or not I MISS IT! I would have to say taking a break from college was a huge mistake on my part! But, I’ve learned now not to do it again and in the process have learned 10 reasons why it was a huge mistake!
). I get bored very very very easy!! I’ve learned I like to be constantly going, thinking, doing. I do like to rest and take it easy, but not during the day! I like to have places to go, things to do, people to see. Since being out of school, I’ve had nothing to do and it’s driving me crazy!! I do like to watch TV but not very many good shows come on during the day! Price is Right, and Jeopardy are about the only two good ones. Maybe Days of our Lives and Let’s Make A Deal every now and then, but that’s about it. Plus that gets old after a while!
.) My brain is turning to mush! I don’t really know if your brain can turn to mush or not, but it seems like mine has! I don’t know. It just seems like my brain has shut off since I’ve been out of school. Not having to figure things out everyday, it seems like I’ve forgotten a lot of basic stuff I shouldn’t forget. I could be just really forgetful though, because we all know I do forget things often!
.) School is a good way to get your mind off other things. Granted how much I hate homework and studying for tests and all that jazz, it is a good way to get your mind off other things. When you’ve had a bad day, and don’t wanna think about certain things studying for a test or focusing on getting homework done is one sure way to get those things off your mind. I’ve found with out school, it’s harder to find something else to focus on to get your mind off other things.
.) Studying is a good excuse. I have found studying makes a good excuse to get you out of something you don’t wanna do. Not saying I’ve ever done this before, but you know how it is. There are those days when someone asks you to do something and you really don’t want to. Either because of being tired, or just simply not wanting to. Studying is always a proven excuse. However, when you are not able to use this as a excuse, it can sometimes be hard to come up with one. :/ But again, not saying I’ve ever done this…
.) College can actually make you feel accomplished. Ok. Ok. Ok. So I know this may sound a little dumb, but it is true, well for me anyways. Just think about it. When you get a test back that you’ve studied for, and it as a good grade on it you feel like you’ve done something good. You feel like this:
. Actually it does not even have to be a test. It could be anything…homework, quiz, paper, whatever. It makes you feel like your hard work paid off. What does sitting at home all day watching TV and eating make you feel like? Not accomplished…I can tell you that much.
.) Internet Connection Speeds are 100% faster on campus than at home. Living way out in the sticks, it’s hard to get good internet. We don’t even get cell phone service out here! How are we supposed to get good internet? But there is nothing like waiting 1/2 a second for a page to load compared to two minutes!! It’s amazing! This is why getting on the computer at college sure beats getting on the computer at home.
.) College allows you to feel like you are moving toward a goal. This kind of goes back to feeling accomplished, but with every class you take, you know it’s one less you have to take. You know it’s one step closer to getting OUT! being DONE! Sitting at home gets you NOWHERE! Why? Cause you know it’s all waiting for you when you go back. Every class you have to take before you graduate. The goal is graduation. The classes you take are part of reaching that goal. Once again, being at home not going to school gets you NOWHERE toward being DONE! OUT! FINISHED! for good!
.) College lets you sleep in everyday. Now this is not always 100% true depending on your schedule. For me, I always try to get classes that start at 11:00 or later. 10:00 is acceptable, but not preferred. I have a extremely hard time getting up in the mornings so everyday I’m able to sleep in is a winner for me. I know this may sound lazy, but it’s not. Every one has a hard time doing something…and mine is getting up early. Early as in before 10:00. Yes. I know this is part of life, and that everyone does it. But until I learn how to make it not so hard for me to do, then I’m still going to hate it. I know. I know.
.) College is good for someone who loves sticking to a routine everyday! There is one thing about college that I do LOVE! That is that everyday at the same time the same class meets!! This is brilliant for me because I hate change! Everyday I do the same thing at the same time. That’s just how I am. Don’t try to throw something new in to the mix. I can’t handle it! Ok, I can..but it takes a while for me to adjust to new things added to the mix. But with college, you know that every class meets at the same time every day. It never changes. Unless a class is canceled, of course. This is alright every once in a while with proper warning. But with being out of college…you just never know what might come up. Go here, do that, get up early!! Ahh! Change…how I despise you. But again, I know..change is a normal part of life. Get used to it. Deal with it. argh…
.) I’m thrilled about going back to college!!!! I’m planning to go back in August possibly in the summer even, and let me tell you. I’m beyond ready! I’ve had a nice break, but bring it on!! I’m tired of being bored every day!! I want something to do!! Now I’m sure I won’t be saying this two weeks in when I have tons of homework and tests to study for! But that’s alright. Sometimes having a lot of stuff to do is a good thing! So I can’t wait to go back and I’ll never take another break again. Until I’m done!!
